Startup Training Resources to Inspire Veteran Entrepreneurs
(STRIVE)

The STRIVE program is a veteran entrepreneurship training initiative provided by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) in collaboration with the Entrepreneurs’ Center and the Miami Valley Small Business Development Center.

This six-week, in-person intensive program is designed for veterans, active duty service members, reservists, guardsmen, and their spouses, equipping them with the essential tools and knowledge to successfully launch and grow their businesses.

The application for our Summer 2025 cohort is OPEN until August 25th!

Program Overview:

This program is designed to help participants strengthen their entrepreneurial knowledge while engaging with subject matter experts to identify challenges, develop solutions, and build confidence for success.

It follows a structured, hands-on approach using three key learning methods:

  • Online: Pre-class assignments to prepare for in-depth discussions.
  • In-Person: Weekly interactive sessions, held one evening per week for seven weeks.
  • Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from experienced mentors who provide resources and support to help launch and grow the business concept.

Program Deliverables:                                             By the end of the program, participants will have:

  • A refined business model with a clear value proposition.
  • A well-structured business plan or pitch deck.
  • Practical insights from industry experts and mentors.
  • Strategies to identify and mitigate potential business challenges.
  • Increased confidence in launching and growing their business.
  • A network of peers, mentors, and industry professionals for ongoing support.

Phase 3: Support

The STRIVE program will continue to

support the needs of the business and provide resources and services.

Access to online curriculum, assign-

ments and resources is provided for 12 months after completion of the

program.
